Fangyuan Gu (1994 in Leshan, Sichuan, China) lives and works mainly in Shanghai and Leshan. Her art practice focuses on easel painting, as well as exploring the characteristics of different mediums and the emotional experience and energy conveyed when these characteristics work together.
Witchcraft is often seen as a technique and medium for linking the visible and
the invisible, for exploring the unknown. Witchcraft is an important means of communication between humans and the supernatural, before humans have mastered the technology of imagery. Fangyuan Gu's creations are always associated with "witchiness" and "sorcery".
Her creations are more like "conditioned reflexes" of the information she receives in the world due to her hypersensitive body. Her hyperactive immune system often puts her in a state of "allergy", which is not only physical, so her creations are often a channel for her to transform external information and energy, to heal the spiritual world and to balance her body.
In her creative practice, individual experience always overlaps, breaks and reorganises in the time and space of changeing and interlacing. When she uses herself as a medium to connect experience and transcendence, transcending the inherent forms of the objects she portrays and transforming them into another kind of "reality", "visible" and "invisible", "the other side" and "this side", overlapping the unknown
or indeterminate space and time will be made visible, correlating with the world of experience as we know it, convening dialogues and having an impact.
古芳源,1994 年生於四川樂山,中國。現主要生活工作於上海和樂山。她的藝術實踐以架上繪畫為主,同時 , 她還探索不同媒介的特性以及這些特性共同作用所帶來的情感體驗與 能量傳遞。
巫術常被人視為鏈接“可見”與“不可見”,探索“未知”的技術和媒介,且在人類還未熟練掌 握圖像技術之前,巫術則是人類與超驗溝通的重要手段。而古芳源的創作總讓人將其與“巫性”“巫術”相關聯。
她的創作更像是她自身的超敏體質在世間接收到的信息的“條件反射”。容易亢奮的免疫系統使 其常常處於“過敏”狀態,且這樣的狀態不只體現在生理上,也因此,她的創作時常是她轉化外 界的信息和能量,療癒精神世界與平衡身體的通道。
在她的創作實踐中,个体经验總是在變換交錯的時空中發生重疊、破碎和重組。當她以自身作為 連接經驗與超驗的媒介,超越那些被她刻畫的對象的固有形態,並將他們轉化為另一種“現實” 的時候,“可見”與“不可見”,“彼岸”與“此岸”交疊出的未知或不確定的時空將得到顯現, 與我們已知的經驗世界相觀照,展開對話,產生影響。
